Board accepts jailer retirement, promotes employee, sets commissioner pay and approves grant and warrants

The board accepted the retirement of a Jailer/Dispatcher effective Jan. 2, 2026; promoted Dylan Markus to full-time Jailer/Dispatcher effective Jan. 12, 2026; set 2026 commissioner salaries and per-diem rates; approved a 2024 Emergency Management Performance Grant; and approved December warrants totaling $171,625.57.
County Coordinator Kelly Thongvivong presented personnel matters including acceptance of the retirement resignation of Jailer/Dispatcher Dan Schoenenberger effective Jan. 2, 2026; a motion to promote Dylan Markus to full-time Jailer/Dispatcher effective Jan. 12, 2026 was approved unanimously. The board also set the 2026 annual commissioner salary at $25,000, with the Chair to receive an additional $1,200, per diem rates of $100 per day for one meeting and $150 per day for two or more meetings, and a $60 per month technology fee.
The board approved signing the 2024 Emergency Management Performance Grant agreement. Commissioners also approved December warrants across funds totaling $171,625.57, including County Revenue, Road and Bridge, Waste Abatement/SCORE, Landfill Enterprise, and Ditch Funds (motion by Commissioner Larry Anderson; second by Commissioner Tom Appel).
