The Village of Ladd is exploring an Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP) grant to build pedestrian infrastructure along East Cleveland Street between the railroad tracks and Spring Creek Drive. Engineer Adam Ossola outlined several scenarios, said easements from homeowners may be required depending on right-of-way width, and reported an approximate project cost of $2,500,000 and a Village responsibility of 20 percent.
Ossola told trustees that the application fee is $5,000 plus engineering, and that the Village will hold a public meeting to gauge taxpayer views before deciding on a 5-foot sidewalk or an 8-foot pedestrian path. Trustee Brad Nicholson asked about locating the walking path on the north side of East Cleveland Street because users would otherwise need to cross the road; trustees recalled prior discussions with local farmers and emphasized seeking homeowner input. "The application fee is $5,000 plus engineering, plus 20% responsibility by the Village, with an approximate project cost of $2,500,000.00," the minutes state.
