Police Chief Jacob Frund told trustees the department's 2017 Ford Interceptor is suffering from multiple mechanical issues — brakes, rotors, suspension, cooling and mounting bushings — and that repair estimates range from $2,000 to $4,000 with air conditioning repairs estimated between $1,000 and $5,000. He said the vehicle was purchased in 2020 for $16,000 and that repairs may exceed reasonable value.
Frund reported dealer quotes (Piehl Motors/owner Shawn Harden) for a 2026 Dodge Ram at $41,800 and a Dodge Durango at about $42,000, plus roughly $14,500 to remove and reinstall equipment. "When asked about replacement costs, Frund estimated around $50,000," and he said he will test‑drive options and bring back pricing and financing comparisons for the Feb. 24 meeting. Clerk Rhonda Bezely will consult with North Central Bank on financing options.
