Hockman summarized three takeaways from his outreach: (1) the county's economy is not monolithic and varies by place; (2) there was no immediate conflict with the Scenic Act but officials cautioned about potential friction on the margin if future land‑use changes (for example, urban growth boundary expansion) occur; and (3) affordability is a persistent county-level concern that undercuts long-term resilience.
"There's a it's largely tourism driven, and there are other other, economic drivers, however, that are real stabilizers," Hockman said during his report. He noted positive feedback about the committee's wildfire coordination work but urged nimble communication and faster learning to avoid bureaucratic slowdowns.
The committee agreed to keep a consistent set of questions for county outreach so responses are comparable across jurisdictions; staff will compile county input and circulate a crosswalk of findings ahead of next spring's plan-review work.
