Commissioners push platforming of funding recipients, propose regular newsletter

Commissioners on Aug. 5 discussed using the communications committee to amplify the work of groups the commission funds and to publish short, repeatable pieces about the committee's mission and accomplishments. Chair Litware and Commissioner Steve Hockman described a need for consistent, outward-facing messaging to help county leaders and the public understand the commission's role.
Hockman said one practical approach would be to distill meetings and decisions into "did you know" items and short highlights, and to platform recipients of commission funds so their work is visible. "Just repetition and propagation of that 0.1, that it can never be repeated too many times," Hockman said, summarizing the communications principle.
The committee proposed that each member contribute one piece of collateral for review so staff can compile and peer-review items for a regular newsletter. The communications committee will set the first publication date and cadence at its next meeting.
