Summary
The Lake Shore Drive project in Michiana would replace roughly 600 linear feet of 4‑inch cast‑iron main with 6‑inch PVC, add one fire hydrant, and will require field survey, plan preparation and EGLE permitting; NIES Engineering will perform those services under the council‑approved contract.

NIES Engineering told the council the Lake Shore Drive project would replace approximately 600 linear feet of 4‑inch cast‑iron main with 6‑inch PVC and add one fire hydrant. Unlike the Creek Drive project, NIES’ scope for Lake Shore includes a field survey, preparation of plans and specifications suitable for competitive bidding, EGLE permitting and assistance during the bid process.
Council approved moving forward with NIES Engineering for design and bidding assistance, subject to review by the Village Attorney and a $24,000 not‑to‑exceed fee. The minutes state the village aims to solicit bids by early September for fall construction.
