“Tim McCarthy made a motion to move forward with NIES Engineering subject to review by the Village Attorney and not exceed $24,000,” the minutes record; Nancy Thill seconded and a roll-call vote recorded three ayes and zero nays, approving the contract. The council directed Village Attorney Sara Senica to review the NIES contract and prepare a termination letter to Merritt Engineering to be sent by certified mail.
NIES Engineering’s proposal covers design and bidding assistance for two projects included in Michiana’s FY24 Community Project Grant. Council members said the village seeks bids by early September so construction can proceed this fall. There was no public comment recorded at the meeting.
