Milford wins $520,800 grant for new salt shed; town share $130,200
Summary

Supervisor Austin Partridge told the Milford Town Board on Jan. 21 that "the Town has been awarded $520,800 towards the construction of a new salt shed." The grant application was submitted by Council Member Kristen Velasco. The town's required share of the project is $130,200.
Partridge said Council Member Velasco will consult with Assemblyman Miller's office about using an $80,000 grant from that office toward site preparation and testing. He added that land behind the proposed salt shed site could be repurposed for athletic fields and that a property currently for sale could be adapted to replace the Town Barn; part of that building could be used as a disaster relief center, which might make the purchase eligible for a federal loan.
The board did not take a final vote on a purchase or site selection at the meeting. Council Member Velasco indicated she will pursue conversations with the Assemblyman's office and report back to the board.
