The Waverly City Council voted to join the Scioto Valley–Piketon Area Council of Governments (COG) as a full voting member, a move council leaders said will give the village a seat at regional discussions about port-site development and related projects. Finance staff reported the general fund beginning balance and said membership dues are suspended through Jan. 1; the nominal annual fee is expected to be less than $1,000 under current plans, though future increases would return to council for approval.
Finance speaker said the village had been attending COG meetings as an invited guest and that the COG has shifted focus to the port site and development opportunities. "I think it would certainly be in our best interest to have a seat at the table for those discussions," the finance speaker said. Council approved the motion by roll call; council members responding in the roll call included Kennison, Forrest Blakeman, Bevins, Gideon, Brian Blakeman, Wilkes and Patterson.
