The Waverly City Council voted to hire Zoey (Zoey/Zoey) Smith as Economic Development Administrator with a starting salary of $49,004.80, effective Monday, Aug. 10. Mayor Richard Henderson moved to appoint Smith and the motion received a second; the hiring passed on a roll-call vote with all named council members recorded as "Aye."
"Zoey, welcome aboard," Chair said after the vote. Council members who responded during roll call included Wilkes, Brian Blakeman, Bevins, Forrest Blakeman, Gideon, Kennison and Patterson; the motion carried and the new hire will begin the week of Aug. 10. The hire was announced during the Mayor's report portion of the meeting; council did not discuss additional terms beyond the stated starting salary and effective date.
