Cottonwood County awards multiple opioid-settlement grants to local treatment and recovery providers

Lindsay Chapman-Nesseth of District Valley Human Services (DVHHS) presented nine applications seeking opioid-settlement funding and asked the board to vote on each application. She told commissioners "an overview of the applications was given to the Commissioners at the November 13 DVHHS board meeting and that she is now requesting that the board vote on each application." The board then approved multiple awards to local organizations and programs.
The motions and amounts recorded in the minutes are: $2,000 to MN DOC for gap funding (gas cards for people in treatment/recovery); $5,000 to Reinbows, Inc. for an equine therapy program; $24,000 to New Life Treatment Center for gap funding to increase access to treatment and recovery services; $3,000 to DVHHS for substance use disorder consultation services; $24,000 to R.A.Y.S Unlimited for recovery stability and peer support expansion (sober housing); $24,000 to AGAPE for continuing education, EMR onboarding upgrades and gap funding for individuals needing treatment/assessments; $24,000 to Sober Hope Living House for sober housing and support services; and $9,960 to MN DOC for TIDES training for professionals working with those with SUD. An Advocate4Health request for $10,200 for outdoor public access safety cabinets was discussed but no action was taken.
The board recorded unanimous votes for the listed grant approvals. The funding allocations are recorded in the minutes as discrete awards; DVHHS will oversee or coordinate grant administration and training activities as described in the applications.
