County approves Braun Intertec as landfill analytical laboratory for $66,910

Assistant County Engineer and Solid Waste Administrator Kyle Pillatzki told the board that the county received a single quote for landfill analytical laboratory services—from Braun Intertec—for $66,910 for the 2026 sampling term. Commissioner Larry Anderson moved to approve Braun Intertec as the contracted analytical laboratory and Commissioner Wayne Maras seconded; the board voted unanimously to award the contract and authorized the Solid Waste Administrator to sign necessary documents.
During the discussion Commissioner Tom Appel asked about vinyl chloride testing; Pillatzki said that testing is performed once a year. Appel also asked whether planned 2026 construction and several regional wind-tower projects would create staffing issues; Interim County Engineer Stephen Schnieder and Pillatzki both said they did not perceive staffing problems at this time.
