The Cottonwood County Board of Commissioners unanimously elected Commissioner Tom Appel as Board Chair for 2026 and Commissioner Donna Gravley as Vice-Chair during its regular meeting on Jan. 6, 2026. The motion to elect Appel was made by Commissioner Donna Gravley and seconded by Commissioner Larry Anderson; following the vote Appel presided for the remainder of the meeting.
"to elect Commissioner Appel and to ask that all nominations cease and to cast a unanimous ballot for Appel as Board Chair for 2026," said Commissioner Donna Gravley as she moved the motion. Later, Commissioner Kevin Stevens moved, and Commissioner Wayne Maras seconded, the motion to elect Gravley as Vice-Chair, which the board approved unanimously. The board then continued with the published agenda under Chair Appel's leadership.
