County certifies U.S. Fish & Wildlife notices for two Ketzenberg properties

The Cottonwood County Board of Commissioners on Nov. 18, 2025, certified notifications from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service regarding two Ketzenberg properties. Eric Earhart, a Realty Specialist with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, told the board the Service holds an option to purchase a 3-acre parcel in Amo Township, Section 35, owned by Jon and Kristin Ketzenberg, for water and wildlife conservation; Commissioner Tom Appel moved to certify the notice and Commissioner Larry Anderson seconded, and the board approved the certification unanimously.
Earhart also reported a Grant of Easement for Wildlife Habitat Protection had been secured for a 14-acre parcel in Lakeside Township, Section 20, owned by Tim and Cindy Ketzenberg. Jon Beyer, District Manager for the Windom Wetland Management District, was present for the discussion. Commissioner Donna Gravley moved to certify the grant-of-easement notice, Commissioner Wayne Maras seconded, and the board voted unanimously to certify the easement. The certifications are procedural acknowledgments that the federal Service notified the county of the proposed conservation actions.
