Applicants ask Milford board for exception to STTR moratorium; committee to review rules

Ben Holscher and Jeff Edson appeared before the Milford Town Board on March 18 to request an exception to the town's STTR moratorium so their near-complete application could proceed. According to the minutes, the application "was fairly far along in the process: water test performed, septic system certified, neighbors notified by certified mail, public hearing scheduled." Edson, the seller of the property Holscher intends to buy, said the moratorium has put the sale at risk because the negotiated price reflected the property's potential as an STTR.
Council Member Kristen Velasco agreed to contact the town attorney to determine whether a variance or other relief is possible, and she provided the applicants with the attorney's contact information. The Board also agreed to form a committee to review and rewrite the STTR regulations; Council Members Velasco and Sosnowski and a Planning Board representative will serve, and Russ Langford volunteered to participate. The committee is expected to meet monthly.
