Milford highway superintendent seeks reimbursement for logging damage and reports PESH inspection

Highway Superintendent Billy Sutphin told the board he is pursuing reimbursement for damage to Lichenberger Road caused by logging operations and is waiting for guidance from the town attorney before taking further steps. He said the board discussed installing signage to alert loggers and posting weight limits on town roads; county roads are the county’s responsibility.
Sutphin also reported that Public Employee Safety and Health (PESH), part of the New York State Department of Labor, is conducting an inspection of the Town Barn and reviewing employee training and injury records. He said he expects the PESH inspection to identify issues that will need to be resolved. The Highway Department will host a BOCES intern for at least six weeks in May–June.
