Committee members described MLAC’s approach to resolving differences between labor and management: when consensus cannot be reached at the full committee, members may form subcommittees to negotiate specifics. Kim Schlessinger cited the time-loss benefit proposal as an example where a subcommittee produced a mutual agreement.
Co-Chair Patrick Priest said MLAC’s agenda is driven by legislation referred to the committee but that, off-session, MLAC creates a work plan and can add stakeholder-raised issues. Members said MLAC’s multipartisan structure and stakeholder-driven process aim to produce pragmatic solutions that both labor and management can support.
