Michiana’s council approved a motion to proceed with pickleball court repairs, not to exceed $6,000, after staff presented quotations and identified a familiar contractor experienced with the village courts. The motion, made by Mike Mumper and seconded by Mike Botelho, passed unanimously.
During public comment, Pam Schutt asked for clarification about enforcement of short-term rental regulations and raised concerns about daytime noise from pickleball activity, specifically asking whether quieter pickleball equipment could be required or enforced. Councilors recorded the concern and said ongoing park and recreation plans would consider safety and community impacts alongside the repair work.
Park staff also reported other spring park maintenance (fence replacement near play equipment and potential pavilion repainting) as part of broader park improvements.
