Tree Board updates ordinance; council to seek removal estimates for failing elm at Stop 42

Thill said the revised ordinance requires tree services to be registered and licensed and to obtain a no-cost permit from the office so the village can maintain its tree inventory and protect public safety. "It states; the tree service must be registered and licensed, and required to obtain a permit from the office at no cost," she said. Thill reported that the Siberian Elm at Stop 42 had been inspected, treated for vines, and that estimates for removal of the multi-trunk, failing tree were being obtained. She also noted AEP is halfway through a draft design for two sections of the village to bury utility lines, though that remains a preliminary plan.
The Tree Board also described invasive-species treatments and temporary fencing near the playground while native plant restoration work continues. No formal council vote on ordinance changes was recorded in the minutes; the entry notes the ordinance language was updated and the Tree Board thanks volunteers and community partners for recent Arbor Day activities.
