Serrano elected board president as new trustees sworn in

The motion to elect Serrano as president passed 4–1; the board then approved Gina (Geno) Kwok as vice president and Adriana Quinones as clerk. Serrano, who participated in the ceremonial oath earlier in the meeting, recited the oath and later accepted the nomination. "I, Stephanie Serrano, do solemnly affirm that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States," she said during the ceremony (oath). The motion to elect Serrano was moved by Mister Dela Torre and seconded by Adriana Quinones, and the roll call recorded four yes votes and one no.
Trustees debated tone and unity during nominations: one member urged restorative justice to mend board relationships and another called for teamwork to prioritize students. Several speakers said they would seek training on parliamentary procedure and the Brown Act going forward. The board then moved to address consent and time‑sensitive items for legal compliance before the meeting continued into extended public comment and budget business.
