The Roberts City Council voted May 12 to approve a memorandum of understanding with Jefferson County Road and Bridge that formalizes how the county will assist the city on projects such as paving.
Mayor Robert (BJ) Berlin opened the discussion and council members raised questions about fringe benefits and termination provisions in the contract. Councilmember Casey Burns moved to approve the MOU; Benjamin Poston seconded and the clerk recorded an affirmative roll-call vote. The motion passed.
The memorandum, which was provided in the council packet, is intended to clarify responsibilities when the county performs work for the city. Council members emphasized flexibility in the agreement and noted either party may terminate the MOU at any time. The council did not record any amendments to the document at the meeting.
The council will retain the MOU in its records and staff may proceed to coordinate project scheduling with Jefferson County Road and Bridge.
