Landfill testing shows high chloride; town fund nearing $400,000, official says

Councilperson Brian Stamp reported during the May 14 meeting that the landfill group submitted a document to the DEC and that one site is testing high for chloride. He said stakeholders estimate roughly three to four years before the site will be closed, and he described the location as an environmental risk that will likely limit future reuse once closed.
Stamp also reported the landfill account balance is nearly $400,000. Supervisor David Scott requested that, when disbursement occurs after closure, the landfill committee be reminded that the Kubota is the landfill's property but is housed at and maintained by the Town of Montour.
