Monroe County approves public-health grants, hospital staffing contracts and prosecution funding

At its Dec. 17 special meeting the Monroe County Legislature approved a series of health and public-safety actions. Resolutions authorized temporary respiratory therapy staffing at Monroe Community Hospital, contracts and program support for mental health, developmental disability and substance abuse services in 2025, and Office for the Aging programs for 2025–2026. The Legislature also accepted grants for tuberculosis prevention and for enhanced forensic toxicology testing in impaired-driving and drug-related death investigations.
The Legislature approved a contract with the University of Rochester for support of a forensic pathology fellowship and accepted multiple Aid to Prosecution grants from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, including one identified for illegal fentanyl prosecutions. Committee approvals are shown in the meeting docket; most resolutions were adopted 26–0. Several legislators declared conflicts of interest where noted on the agenda.
