Evart resident asks city to share $700 cost to correct irrigation hookup deemed illegal under Sec. 42-83(e)

The resident asked the city to contribute $700 toward a $1,500 contractor quote to relocate and meter the irrigation line so water usage would pass through the city meter for billing. The resident said he recalls the original hookup was approved when it was installed. Staff told council the utility had only three irrigation reads from the address over the last eight years and that, in practice, the utility used estimated billings to allocate irrigation usage between reads. No formal cost-sharing commitment or vote is recorded in the meeting notes.
