He suggested members "take a look at the town, take look at the existing master plan, maybe mark up a copy and, you know, say, well, this needs to be changed because this doesn't exist anymore or this is not something we want," and collect examples of redevelopment or preservation to inform recommendations.
The staff member specifically cited Old Chestnut Street ("Old Town Nutley") as a candidate for historic-preservation and enhancement and suggested exploring a redevelopment plan for that neighborhood. Members discussed starting work over the next few months with deeper work in midwinter.
