A Nutley resident, Mary Malisi, used public comment on Aug. 4 to press the township for consistent enforcement of land‑use and code requirements and clearer communication from staff.
Malisi said she filed OPRA requests that show no permits for certain work at a neighbor's property and asked why no enforcement action had been taken. She said she was not asking officials to take sides in neighborhood disputes but requested that the town "properly review and address" apparent violations. She also raised concerns about credits applied to sewer bills for properties with pools, asserting that some residents drain pool water with debris into storm drains and asked whether that practice was being credited improperly.
Officials responded that the township had modified the pool credit policy (no more pool credit; usage will be averaged for summer months) and that separate meter options based on engineering review may still apply. Staff told Malisi they would follow up with the construction/code office and engineering staff the next morning after confirming the specific property location she referenced. The board recorded the exchange and asked staff to investigate and reply to the commenter.
