At the Aug. 4 meeting the Township of Nutley advanced multiple ordinances to a second reading scheduled Aug. 18.
Mayor Kelly introduced Ordinance No. 3620 to set minimum and maximum salaries for designated township officers and employees effective Jan. 1, 2026; the board voted to post the ordinance and consider final passage on 08/18/2026. Commissioner Evans moved Ordinance No. 3622, an amendment to section 700 of the zoning code addressing off‑street parking and second‑floor balconies, and the measure was posted for second reading. Commissioner Petraco introduced Ordinance No. 3623 to add a 15‑minute timed parking space at the Essex and Franklin Avenue corner to support local businesses; the board approved moving it to a second reading.
The board opened a public hearing on Ordinance No. 3619 (handicap parking additions, e.g., 115 Wilson Street) and commissioners recorded affirmative votes during the hearing. Commissioners handled these items in sequence and recorded roll‑call “Aye” votes to advance each ordinance. Final action, including any amendments or public testimony submitted before Aug. 18, will determine adoption.
