Morehouse investigates alternatives after insurer limits Medicare managed plans to employers with 3+ employees

Supervisor Anthony Fernandez informed the board he received notice from the town’s health broker that MVP Gold will no longer offer a Medicare managed plan to employers with fewer than three employees. Because the town has only one employee under the plan, Fernandez said the options include reimbursing that employee for an individual policy or finding an alternate group plan that accepts small employers.
Fernandez said he is researching alternatives and will report back to the board with options. The board did not vote on a new policy at the Oct. 14 meeting; the issue will be handled administratively and likely addressed before open-enrollment deadlines.
