Morehouse Supervisor: MVP will not cover single retiree; BCBS option may cost more

At the Oct. 21 budget workshop Supervisor Anthony Fernandez briefed the Board on retiree health coverage options after a policy change by the Town's insurer. "MVP has changed coverage. They will no longer cover under 3 retirees. The Town only has 1. The Town can go to Blue Cross Blue Shield and they would cover 1 retiree but the costs will be higher," Fernandez said.
Fernandez said he would keep working to identify a viable insurance option. The minutes do not include premium figures, vendor quotes beyond the MVP change, or a Board vote on changing carriers; the discussion was informational and flagged as a topic for continued staff follow-up.
