Morehouse board appoints acting assessor as county provides temporary assessor services

Supervisor Anthony Fernandez told the board Hamilton County Budget Officer Barry Baker arranged for county assessor coverage after the town’s assessor, Denver Steinmetz, left effective July 1, 2025. The county will provide assessor services at no cost to the town until the town–county contract takes effect Jan. 1, 2026.
The board approved Resolution #25-10-5 appointing Johnathon Abbot as Acting Assessor for the remainder of 2025. Mary Ann Mosher moved to approve the appointment and William Uebele seconded; the motion carried with four ayes and one absent.
