The Rankin School District #98 Building and Grounds Committee met Dec. 15, 2025, to review its role in overseeing district facility plans and to revisit priorities set in December 2024. Dr. Matt Gordon told members the committee provides feedback, guidance and recommendations on facilities and highlighted three priorities carried from last year: a phased plan for replacement of 2004 rooftop units (RTUs), completion of track sealing (noted as finished), and a phased playground upgrade that will require inspection and quotes.
Dr. Gordon stressed the committee's ongoing oversight function as it relates to budgeting and sequencing of projects. He recommended scheduling the playground inspection for summer 2025 to obtain an updated lifespan assessment and suggested the committee continue using the phased approach for RTU replacement.
