The Washington Community High School Facilities Committee reached consensus July 1, 2025, to build an addition at the end of Ashbrook to create dedicated Career & Technical Education (CTE) space as part of Year 2 of the district facility plan. The committee also agreed to include the other Year 2 projects already on the plan.
Committee members discussed options to relocate the weight room, including either moving it into the new addition or providing a detached space for the weight room. The group also reviewed planning scenarios for Year 3, including whether to build a full eight-lane track or only an eight-lane straightaway, and considered how the footprint should be laid out to preserve future flexibility. The minutes state that the committee plans to meet with the architect later in the month to evaluate Year 3 project options.
The decision was recorded in the Facilities Committee minutes; attendees listed on the minutes include committee members Essig, Eyres and Buck (Buck arrived at 1:07 PM), additional board member James, and WCHS staff Freeman, Beverlin, Winter and Swanson. The minutes do not list individual votes for the Year 2 consensus; they report that the committee "came to consensus" to proceed with the Ashbrook addition and other Year 2 projects.
