Rankin tech committee eyes DoIT E-rate consortium as Stratus contract nears end

Dr. Matt Gordon told the Technology Committee that the District’s existing agreement with Stratus Network expires June 30, 2026, and that Rankin has joined the Illinois Department of Innovation and Technology’s E-rate consortium, which “has the possibility of securing free internet for the District beginning July 1, 2026.”
Gordon said colleagues reported reliable service through the consortium but that the district will learn more in the near future. He said if the consortium path is not feasible or does not provide the expected benefit, Rankin can fall back to consideration of the bids already received through the district’s provider solicitation.
