District 23 to apply for $50,000 ISBE maintenance grant; board updates on MacArthur and Eisenhower projects

During committee reports the board heard a facilities update that included a plan to apply for the Illinois State Board of Education School Maintenance Projects grant for the maximum amount of $50,000 and an overview of FY2026 capital priorities.
Board member Brian Greidanus told the board that "we will apply for the capital projects grant for the maximum amount of $50,000," and staff described planned work: window, siding and door replacement scheduled for Summer 2026 at MacArthur Middle School and related vestibule AiPhone installation projects at MacArthur and Eisenhower Elementary. The Building & Sites committee also reported on the replacement for a director position, the SSCIP water sensor program and the Learning Patch garden ribbon cutting that occurred prior to the meeting.
District staff said a recommendation for participation in a job order contract (JOC) with F.H. Paschen to execute the MacArthur window/siding/door replacements will be brought to the October board meeting for formal action.
