Residents urge preservation of historic stone walls and lower fence height for Storm King site

Several residents and board members told the planning board that stone walls along Hasbrouck Avenue and the Boulevard are important visual and historic features that should be retained rather than removed. One board member said a uniform 5-foot fence would be "oppressive" and suggested 42 to 48 inches may be more appropriate in the Boulevard view-shed. The applicant said sections of split-rail fence already installed are five feet high and that the relocation plan intends to keep stone-wall material on-site rather than permanently remove the walls; the board asked the applicant to submit alternative treatments and to consider reconstructing stone walls where feasible.
