An applicant seeking to add two electric-vehicle charging stations at a shopping plaza on Quaker Avenue presented an amended site plan at the Cornwall Planning Board meeting. "I'm with eCambion, and we're wanting to install some EV chargers at that location," the presenter said, describing two chargers, associated electrical supply and an on-site battery enclosure.
Town technical reviewers told the board the chargers are a permitted accessory structure in the site’s GC zone but flagged missing materials needed for a conditioned approval. The reviewers said the submitted plans list the site address inconsistently (listed as 65 but the correct address is 55 Quaker Avenue), asked that the applicant provide a parking table because the battery-storage box will reduce parking capacity, and asked for nighttime lighting information and a curb-repair detail where trenching may disturb curbs. The board agreed to condition any favorable resolution on the applicant’s submission of those materials and asked staff to prepare a draft resolution for consideration at the next meeting.
The applicant said it would provide an ADA-accessible stall at each charger and correct trenching and detail errors. Board members asked the applicant to work with planning staff on the cabinet-wrap design and landscaping so the equipment blends into the shopping-plaza setting. If the applicant submits the requested materials in time, the board said it could adopt a resolution at the next meeting.
