River Forest School District 90’s Board of Education convened a special Committee of the Whole meeting on Dec. 8, 2025, at the Roosevelt Library Learning Center. Mrs. Kathleen Avalos called the meeting to order at approximately 4:55 p.m., and Mr. Joseph Cortese moved that the board approve the agenda as presented; Mrs. Beth Vlerick seconded. On roll call the board recorded six ayes (Mr. Josh Ehart, Mr. Joseph Cortese, Mrs. Beth Vlerick, Mrs. Kathleen Avalos, Mrs. Katie Bevan and Dr. Eric Isenberg) and no nays, and the motion carried.
Shortly after approving the agenda the board voted to move into closed session. Dr. Eric Isenberg moved and Mrs. Beth Vlerick seconded a motion to meet in closed session “in order to discuss 1) The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees, specific individuals who serve as independent contractors in a park, recreational, or educational setting, or specific volunteers of the public body, or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against” such individuals.” The motion also explicitly noted that meetings to consider wage increases that are subject to the Local Government Wage Increase Transparency Act must remain open. On roll call the board voted unanimously to enter closed session at approximately 4:56 p.m.
