The Town of Moira Town Board on Aug. 12, 2025 adopted Local Law No. 1 of 2025, replacing the town's 2010 dog-control law to impose updated restrictions on keeping and running at large of dogs and to ensure compliance with Article 7 of the New York State Agriculture and Markets Law. Supervisor Chad Niles presented the proposal and the board voted unanimously, Ayes-5, Nayes-0.
Councilman Frank Snyder moved for adoption; Councilman Adam Deuyour seconded. The resolution directs the Town Clerk to file certified copies of the local law as required by the Municipal Home Rule Law. The board record indicates the law followed a public hearing on July 22, 2025 and that the proposed changes were on members' desks for the required seven days before the vote.
