Commission backs zoning map changes along Texaco Road, residents warn of tanker traffic

Laura Brown presented a zoning map amendment that would revert many parcels along Texaco Road to their 2015 zoning, changing most from General Industrial back to Light Industrial and splitting one parcel into Light Industrial and Residential. Attorney Sean Shultz advised the revision would not affect ongoing litigation concerning one parcel.
Residents told the Commission they are concerned about truck traffic. Mark Potteiger said he has lived on Texaco Road since 1979 and noted the road already carries heavy tanker traffic; County planner Steve Hoffman recommended evaluating each parcel individually to avoid creating new nonconforming uses. The Commission forwarded the amendment to the Board of Supervisors with a recommendation for approval.
