District 2 interns present housing and development recommendations to Commissioner Allen

Commissioner Eric Allen convened a special presentation by three summer interns to the District 2 office, saying the program aimed to connect young policy talent with county priorities. "I am commissioner Eric Allen, commissioner of District 2," he said in opening remarks and introduced the interns Gavin Byers, Jeremy Gutecks and Elsa Lekl.
Each intern outlined a focused research project and policy recommendations. Byers described work on housing instability and the unhoused population; Gutecks examined zoning constraints and the "missing middle" housing shortage and recommended selective density corridors; Lekl recommended county-funded infrastructure improvements and identified funding mechanisms such as tax allocation districts. Allen said the interns will present the findings at a town hall on Thursday, August 6, and thanked them for their summer work.
