City announces Juneteenth, Fourth of July closures, recycling event and summer activities

City Administrator McCann used the June 16 meeting to share community events and service updates, thanking attendees of the Let’s Pollinate event and announcing that City Hall and Taylor Library will be closed Thursday, June 19 for Juneteenth and Friday, July 4 for Independence Day; garbage and recycling collection will be delayed one day for Friday routes.
McCann also said, “Mankato Zero Waste is hosting a free styrofoam recycling event on June 21 and 22 from 10 am to 2 pm at Kato Moving and Storage,” and reminded residents that the Farmers’ Market runs Mondays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 1825 Howard Drive W., that the first adult swim night is June 27, and that ArtSplash is scheduled June 28 at Wheeler Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Those announcements require no council vote but provide dates and service impacts residents should note.
