Liaison: Data Center ordinance hearing delayed; staff propose public outreach and an April 14 open house

Ms. Laura Brown, the Board liaison, told the Planning Commission that because of questions and proposed changes the Data Center ordinance hearing will likely be pushed back, possibly until June. Brown reported the McGuire plan was approved and encouraged commissioners to identify procedural concerns. Commissioner Randy Duncan said he would like separate meetings for large, high‑interest items so there is room for public participation and asked staff to provide timely invoice submissions. Mr. Pete Sandys proposed holding an informational meeting on Data Centers at the high school to educate residents.
County planner Steve Hoffman pointed commissioners to the county's outreach resources, saying the County has a YouTube channel called "Planning in plain sight" and they have a video called "Meet a Data Center Developer" and they have a forum scheduled for April 29 regarding Data Centers. Township Manager Raymond Palmer announced an April 14 open house on Woods Drive/Route 114. Ms. Brown asked Commissioner Duncan to email a list of his concerns so board members can review them.
