A long-serving board member told the planning board she can no longer serve reliably as the county planning-board alternate because worsening cataracts make nighttime driving difficult.
She said both she and the primary liaison were appointed and vetted by the county legislature and that the alternate role requires attending the county meeting roughly once or twice a year. She asked members interested in serving as alternate to contact the town board for appointment.
The chair thanked the member for her service and invited anyone willing to be the alternate to coordinate with the town board.
