Andrew, a Pine Hill resident, addressed the board with a detailed complaint about recent town grading along Elm Street that he said left portions of the sidewalk unusable and created hazardous drops between the sidewalk surface and the roadway. He described a mix of shale, gravel and blacktop surfaces with irregular drop-offs that force pedestrians into the road and urged the town to investigate before business reopenings increase foot traffic.
Supervisor Mansfield and a highway official said crews had uncovered an old stone sidewalk and that milling and repainting work requires establishing the edge of road; the town committed to investigating the condition and placing cautionary tape as an interim measure. "We haven't decided what we're gonna do, but I will definitely update you," Mansfield said.
