Resident urges town review after Pine Hill sidewalk grading left unsafe drop-off

A Pine Hill resident, Andrew, used the open public-comment period to urge the board to investigate a damaged sidewalk on Elm Street that he said has become unsafe for pedestrians.
"As a result of the grading, what was left of the sidewalk ... there is now a drop off to the road that is irregular and dangerous and not walkable," Andrew said, asking the town to identify funding and remedial steps in advance of increased pedestrian use tied to nearby redevelopment. He said the remaining concrete segment is the only walkable portion and that the sidewalk now forces him to walk in the road.
A town respondent (highway staff) replied that the crew "didn't widen the road" but instead exposed the old sidewalk previously buried under grass and that crews are evaluating whether to pave over or otherwise stabilize the area. Staff said temporary caution tape could be installed while the board seeks funding; they noted some funding streams would not be available this year and an engineered fix may require additional planning.
Supervisor Matt asked staff to follow up and update the resident; the board said it would consider short-term caution measures and pursue funding and a timeline for repairs.
