A letter from Supervisor Babs Mansfield was read into the Shandaken Planning Board record addressing the recent FOIL request for the Foxfire special permit and staff efforts to locate missing materials.
The letter said staff had spent multiple hours locating and reconstructing missing records and that the supervisor is "exploring a grant to digitize all past permits because no citizen should experience the frustration of not being provided official documents requested." The supervisor praised specific staff members for locating material and generating reports and asked that the board consider that those efforts demonstrated responsiveness to public records requests.
Board members thanked staff for the record search. The supervisor’s statement closed with a request that the board stop further public discussion of the matter at the meeting, noting an attorney is involved in the FOIL requester’s inquiry.
