Commissioners ask auditor to certify revenue for potential 9‑1‑1 levy to appear on November ballot

The Lorain County Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution asking the county auditor to certify tax valuations and estimated revenue for possible five‑year levies to fund a joint 9‑1‑1 system and a countywide public‑safety communications system. The resolution lists three levy options — 0.50 mill, 0.75 mill and 1.00 mill — and requests the auditor provide revenue projections for each so the question can be placed on the Nov. 3, 2026 ballot.
Clerk Theresa L. Upton noted that this certification request does not require a public hearing. The board voted unanimously to request the auditor's certification so the commissioners can determine final levy language and proceed with ballot placement if desired.
