Superintendent: Sherwood Pool work continues after missing $40,000 grant; Title funding on hold

Superintendent Jamie Kraatz updated the board on facilities and the district funding situation. On facilities, Kraatz said Sherwood Pool repairs are "moving along" but that the district "did not receive the grant for the $40,000 from the Saginaw Community Foundation" and will proceed with a reduced scope while seeking other grants. He added that the Heritage High School pool remains drained and students are using the White Pine Pool in the interim, and that cracks on the tennis courts have been addressed.

Kraatz also reported that Arrowwood boilers are being serviced, that parking lots at White Pine and Arrowwood will be completed by the end of July, and that the IT department has replaced all district door readers. On budget matters, Kraatz said the school aid budget has not been passed, so the district does not yet have an adopted budget; federal Title funding is currently being held, affecting professional development, principals retreat, English Learner supports and STEM labs. He said student counts will be reviewed once the budget situation is clarified.

The update framed immediate facilities progress alongside uncertainty about inbound funding streams; the board took no separate action on the pool grant in this meeting.
