Students push for more breakfast and lunch choices; superintendent highlights fall sports

Charlie Hart, class president (9th grade), addressed the board during the communications portion of the Oct. 27 meeting and reported on homecoming activities. Superintendent Adam Bowen gave a brief activities report, noting several athletic achievements: "the boys soccer team won both the conference and districts advancing to regionals (but lost), the football team went 8-1," four students qualified for state in cross country, and swimmer Phoebe Zalewski has made state-qualifying times in five events this season and will attempt to qualify at the regional meet on Nov. 13. Bowen also noted volleyball (VB) was 16-10-5 and opens district play Nov. 3 at Decatur. These items were presented as informational reports; the board did not take immediate action on student meal offerings or athletics during the meeting.
