City staff reported on recent and upcoming special events, telling the Parks board that Country Christmas drew a strong crowd and that planning for Founders Day is underway. Staff said Country Christmas had an event budget of $25,000, received $19,000 in sponsorships and that expenses for the event totaled around $38,000.
“We had a great turnout of over 2,000 attendees,” Staff reported, noting the event’s snow slide and family activities were popular. Staff previewed Founders Day (April 11) with a $35,000 budget and said organizers were bringing back family attractions and live music. Staff also noted the community cleanup event scheduled for March 28 had 14 people signed up so far, and encouraged volunteer recruitment.
Board members raised cross‑promotion ideas (inviting food trucks to the market, featuring vendors at other events) and discussed sponsorships for market music and how sponsor fatigue across events might be managed so larger event funding remains intact.
